You will meet our guide outside the reception hall of the port of Ashdod, from where we will head to Jerusalem. On the drive to Jerusalem your tour guide will inform you about Israel’s rich history. The drive will be about one hour, depending on traffic.
In Jerusalem our tour will start on the Mount of Olives where you will enjoy a breathtaking view over Jerusalem's Old City and the Temple Mount. We will then continue our trip and explore the Garden of Gethsemane and the Church of All Nations. Next, we will drive towards the old city by passing through the Valley of Kidron and enter the heart of the Old City through one of its famous gates.
We will pass through the Via Dolorosa (the Way of Agony), and follow the same path Jesus took while carrying the cross, towards the Church of Resurrection. The New Testament describes this site as Golgotha the place where Jesus was crucified and later buried.
You cannot come to Jerusalem and not try from the local cuisine. You will have the option of dining at one of the many local restaurants in the Christian quarter before heading to the Jewish quarter.
Jerusalem is built on two levels. The current level was mostly restored after the six day war in 1967, and the ancient level dates back to more 2,000 years. We will explore the fascinating ruins of the city from the Second Temple period, before its destruction by the Roman Empire in 70 AC.
Located on top of the Temple Mount is the Wailing Wall (Kotel). This is the most holy and important place for the Jewish people. After visiting the Wall, you will have some time to enjoy the Old City on your own and explore the local market.
We will drive past some of the famous buildings such as the Knesset (Israeli Parliament) and the Supreme Court in the more modern parts of the city.
Our final stop before returning to the ship will be to Yad Vashem, Israel’s Holocaust Museum. The museum’s campus houses different exhibits and memorials, and also recognizes the Righteous Gentiles who helped save thousands of Jews during World War II.
We will then take you to the port of Ashdod.
