Full Description:
We start out early from Tel Aviv to make the most of our day, with a brief stop for coffee and a snack on the way down south. After a couple of hours we will arrive at the Small Crater, one of only seven Makhteshim, or geological craters, in the world. The crater is over seven kilometers long, and has taken over five million years to develop into what you will see there today. From the cliff tops of the crater, you will have an amazing view point of the desert valley below, and the unique moon-like scenery before you.

Then it is on towards Sde Boker, one of the largest kibbutz communities in the Negev desert, and located near the tomb of David Ben-Gurion. Ben-Gurion was one of the founders and the first prime minister of Israel, and from the viewpoint over the glorious desert landscape you will begin to understand why he fell in love with this area.

We will then travel the short distance to the beginning of the Ein Avdat trail where we hike the beautiful and scenic route which follows a canyon and you will easily be able to spot the large ibexes (mountain goats) as they run along the sheer cliff faces. You’ll be met at the end of the first part of your hike by a spring which culminates in a 15 meter high waterfall and oasis vegetation.

Our next stop on our journey into the Negev desert is for a Bedouin style lunch where we will sit and eat a delicious meal and hear stories about the Bedouin lifestyle, history and cultural practices. The Bedouin community still lives in many areas as a nomadic people of the desert, and this meal will give you an insight into this interesting culture.

In the mid-afternoon we will begin our trip back to Tel Aviv, arriving in the late afternoon.
