The fine art of wine making in Israel can be traced back to biblical times. While there are still some similarities between the way wine used to be made and how it is created today, recent changes in the industry have revolutionized the way wine is produced and consumed. Because of new technologies which have replaced stone wine presses, and the constant refining of blends, Israeli wines have earned numerous awards around the globe. Israel is now on the map as a major producer of gourmet wine.
The tour will begin in one of Israel’s boutique wineries. Outside, we will see the vineyards and begin an intimate tour explaining the process of making wine; from the growing of the grapes all the way to distribution. After a walk through the distillery and wine cellars, we will be able to sit and relax. We will taste several varieties of wine and enjoy hors d'oeuvres such as fresh cheese, olives and bread.
Next, we will continue to one of Israel’s oldest wineries. Here we will tour the facilities and learn what makes wine kosher. Starting from the time of the prophets to the present-day, we will set out to understand the history of Israel wine production.
