The tour starts at Gordon Beach, along the beautiful sea promenade. We will be driving south toward Jaffa. On the way, we will pass by the Charles Glore Park, a beautiful open space where people come to BBQ, exercise and bring their children to play on the playground.
Next we will see all the famous beachfront restaurants and nightclubs. We will view some of Tel Aviv’s famous Bauhaus style buildings, which gave Tel Aviv its nickname, “The White City”. We will continue driving along the promenade, passing by the Etzel Museum, which describes life under the British Mandate and the subsequent War of Independence in 1948. Before entering Old Jaffa, we will stop at a beautiful lookout point along the beach. Here, we will take in the clean ocean air and breath-taking view. On the left it will be possible to see Old Jaffa and on our right we will see modern Tel Aviv. We will learn how these two unique cities merged into one municipality in 1950. We will discuss Jaffa’s ancient history and more recent gentrification efforts. We will ride around what used to be a fully functional fishing port.
